In August 1955 the combined rainfall of Hurricanes Connie & Diane resulted in record flooding on the Delaware River and along the Flatbrook in Walpack, causing great damage and destruction. On Sunday, June 26th, please join Walpack Historical Society at 1pm at the Walpack Center Church to hear first-hand from several of our Society’s members who were present at the time of the Flood as they relate their first-person experiences. It is an inspiring story of how a small rural community, under siege from rising flood waters, became a shining example of the true American “can do” spirit. Isolated and cut off from outside resources, the community saved itself, rescuing and sheltering those who had been most affected by this terrible disaster.
Please note National Park Service current regulations require the wearing of face masks inside all Federal Buildings including the Church, regardless of vaccination status.
