A Memorable Day at The Shawnee Inn — Thank You

The Walpack Historical Society expressed gratitude to attendees of Cara’s presentation at The Shawnee Inn, highlighting local history and property tales, including Native American heritage. Following the tour, WHS President Don Stieh and Jeff Stoveken donated to the Shawnee History Museum. The Society looks forward to future events.

Step Inside History at The Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort - Feb. 15

The Walpack Historical Society invites you to join us as we explore the unique history of The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 1 pm. Please gather on the veranda. The Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort was built in 1911 and was originally known as The Buckwood Inn. The property was purchased by Charles Kirkwood in 1977 and is still owned by the Kirkwood Family.

Inside the Walpack Archives - June 22 at 1pm

The Walpack Historical Society invites guests to “peek” INSIDE THE WALPACK ARCHIVES on Sunday, June 22nd, 2025. The program will begin at 1 pm. Guests are welcome to come early to socialize and browse our bookstore. The majority of the event will take place in the Walpack Center Church. Science Summer Camp - Week 5 - July 25, 10-2pm

The Walpack Historical Society is excited to once again be participating in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area’s Science Summer Camp. Come visit us in Walpack Center for Week 5 of Camp, which will focus on Geology. The Rosenkrans Museum and the General Store/Post Office will also be open for tours from 10 am – 2 pm.

Juneteenth Observance - June 20, 11am to 2pm

Walpack Historical Society in cooperation with the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area NPS, will honor the history of African American Residents in Walpack Township in observance of Juneteenth on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 11 am – 2:00 pm. Guided tours will be conducted of the Black/Slave Cemetery where the remains of up to 50 individuals are interred in unmarked graves. Some are believed to have been former slaves.
