The Walpack Historical Society invites you to join us as we explore the unique history of The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 1 pm. Please gather on the veranda. The Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort was built in 1911 and was originally known as The Buckwood Inn. The property was purchased by Charles Kirkwood in 1977 and is still owned by the Kirkwood Family.
July 17th was a beautiful day in the southern-most part of Walpack Township where Walpack Historical Society sponsored a presentation at the Lower Walpack Cemetery. The WHS is pleased to receive a very special donation of the Rosenkrans’s Bible from Suzanne Brown of California. The Bible is signed by Colonial Benjamin Rosenkrans and was printed in 1793.
On Sunday September 17th 2017 at 1:00-pm, the Walpack Historical Society will present a program by Lydia Chiappini demonstrating the construction of the Victorian Lady’s Wardrobe by deconstructing the various layers which support the fashion silhouette of the period, including hoop skirts, bustles, corsets, pantaloons and accessories.
