The Walpack Historical Society invites you to welcome spring’s return to Walpack with a hike! We will be leading a spring hike along the Blue Mountain Lakes Loop Trail on Sunday, April 13, 2025. Participants are asked to meet at the Blue Mountain Lakes parking lot, which is located on the Flatbrookville-Stillwater Road, at 10:30 am. The hike departs promptly at 11:00 a.m. The hike covers approximately 5.6 miles and features terrain that is mostly level with some moderate uphill stretches. There is an out and back option for those who do not wish to hike the full loop. The shortened hike covers approximately 2.1 miles. Hikers are encouraged to wear sturdy footwear, use tick repellent, dress for the weather and bring water and snacks.
The Blue Mountain Lakes Loop Trail follows the bed of a reclaimed road that was once part of the Blue Mountain Lakes recreational community. Hiking this area in the early spring should allow relatively easy viewing of the remains and features of this former development, which was carved out of the Walpack Wilderness beginning in the late 1950’s.
